I'm not sure if they're an Indie band or not, but have you heard of the Weepies? A friend introduced me to them recently and I LOOOOVE them. They sound Indie at least.
p.s. Don't tell Jack, but Brittney Spears music is totally my guilty pleasure.
Nickelback can go to hell though.
